Plinius Labs Early Access Program • Cosmetic Lignin

Co-define the cosmetic-grade lignin spec with Plinius

Lab-scale samples now; pilot (Q4 2026) with maximum capacity 600 kg/year for kilo-lots & COAs. Series A starts Q3 2026 to fund a 700 tpa plant targeting Q3 2028 operation.

Supply timeline & reality

  • 2025–Q3 2026: micro-batches only (≈ 20–200 g per qualified use case).
  • Q4 2026–Q2 2028: pilot on (max 600 kg/yr): limited kilo-lots for validation and early launches.
  • Q3 2028 → : industrial production (target 700 tpa), subject to Series A completion and plant commissioning.

Pre-pilot and pilot materials are for evaluation/limited validation; market launches require RA-approved claims and compliance under your regulatory framework.

Who this is for

  • Sun/day-care teams targeting photostability booster adjunct claims
  • Skin-care (serums/day creams) seeking antioxidant/phenolic shield
  • Color/care lines exploring natural tan/brown undertones & stability
  • Partners with in-house RA/QA ready to run quick lab trials

What you get now

  • Lab samples (tiered allocation) + formulation notes
  • Quarterly Target Spec updates (L*a*b*, odor, moisture, phenolic index, etc.)
  • Validator memos (safety assessor / photostability / analytics)
  • Priority in the pilot queue + provisional price corridors (pilot vs. plant)

How to secure volume

  • OPO — Option-to-Pre-Order: converts to Pilot Allotment if Target Spec is met at pilot
  • CRA — Capacity Reservation Addendum: holds your pilot kilo-lots
  • FSA — Framework Supply Agreement: kicks in at 700 tpa plant (Q3 2028)

Pilot allocation (600 kg/year)

BucketAllocationPurpose
Anchor partners (4–6)~60% (60–90 kg/partner/yr)Validation, limited pre-launch SKUs
Build partners~20%Evaluation, method development
Internal/validators~20%SOPs, photostability, safety, LCA scope

Allocations reviewed quarterly; unused capacity rolls to the queue. Shortfalls are allocated pro-rata.

Eligibility signals (ideal partners)

  • RA/QA owner named; prior co-dev history
  • Launch window ≤ 12–18 mo after pilot; ESG targets in place
  • Willing to sign OPO (+ deposit) and CRA
  • Advance to FSA talks for 2028 volumes

What we ask of you

  • Run micro-kit trials within 30–45 days and share structured results
  • Align on claim guardrails (no SPF numbers pre-validation)
  • Confirm pilot slot windows and firming dates (use-or-release)

Readiness toward pilot

Illustrative progress: Spec maturity 38%.

FAQ & compliance notes

Is Cosmetic Lignin a sunscreen active?

No. It is explored as a photostability/SPF-booster adjunct and antioxidant. No SPF claims without validated testing in final formulations.

How does the OPO work?

An Option-to-Pre-Order converts to a Pilot Allotment once the pilot delivers COA lots that meet the agreed Target Spec v1.0 within corridors. It includes a small deposit that is refundable or creditable on conversion and a right-of-first-negotiation for your FSA (2028 volumes).

Pricing?

Two price corridors: (1) pilot kilo-lots (reflecting small-batch costs) and (2) indicative plant pricing for 2028 with indexation. FSA finalizes plant pricing post-Series A.
